The Fall of Giants: Ken Follet

Review by Kamakshi Balasubramanian

Didn’t know about the Taxi Armada until I read Ken Follet’s integration of that episode in his novel The Fall of  Giants. (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Gallieni.)

If you enjoy fat novels, really fat novels, then this one is for you.

It’s got love, war, sex, infidelity, unrequited love, illegitimate children, radical aristocrats, working class leaders, thugs who make it big, identifiable historical figures, a romp through Russia, England, Germany…

I am about halfway and having fun, and certain to finish it, even if Papadum, the newly adopted puppy, is a significant distraction.

Easy access to historical events on which I didn’t have much of a grip until this pre-digested version for people like me came along.
